Polysexual

Definition

A colloquial term which is used to describe people who have relationships that are sexually non-monogamous and are not emotionally intimate. Polysexual people will often have multiple relationships with people of any gender and sexual orientation.

Different from polyamory in the sense that a polyamorous person will have multiple relationships that are sexually and emotionally intimate. The term can sometimes be used in a derogatory fashion to describe someone who has many sexual partners, but tells people that they are polyamorous.

Example

James is in a few relationships with different people. All of the relationships are based on sex and he is constantly looking for new partners. When getting to know a new partner he is very careful to avoid any emotional intimacy.
